The buzz surrounding SSL has begun to sound fanatical, almost religious. From claims that LEDs will replace all light sources, to ideas of the lighting market being changed, from the sales network to the size of market to absorb the increased cost of products, plus all the press releases, conferences, letters from the DOE... it's invasion like and its pervasive... but is it realistic?
While lumen efficacy is an exciting metric, that causes visions of conquering the world through straightforward reason and return on investment analysis... the reality is, the lighting market has more on its mind, business owners are facing other challenges, and structures are far more complex assemblies, with many cost issues.
