Diversified Group Acquires ORA Lighting and Controls

Feb. 27, 2024
Two lighting agencies in the metro New York area combine forces.

Lighting and controls representative Diversified Group has acquired ORA Lighting and Controls, an architectural lighting representative serving the metro New York market with offices in New York and New Jersey.

Executives at Diversified Group, which serves eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and metro New York, and ORA Lighting and Controls expressed confidence that their combined companies would be greater than the whole.

“This opportunity allows us to leverage Diversified’s extensive network and resources to bring our innovative lighting solutions and ‘service-centric approach’ to a wider audience,” said James O’Blaney, principal at ORA Lighting and Controls, in a statement.

“James and his highly respected team are the perfect complement to our initial efforts in New York. After our first meeting, it was clear they will bring a strong boost to our focus on the specification community and be a great fit for our ever-expanding family,” said Bill Cloud, senior vice president, Diversified New York and New Jersey markets, in a statement. “We are looking forward to bringing our teams together and leaning on each other’s strengths as we continue to grow and invest in the metro New York marketplace.”

ORA Lighting and Controls will continue to operate as its own brand under the Diversified Group banner, according to Bruce King, president and CEO of Diversified Group. The company will offer an expanded portfolio of products and services to the metro New York market.

ORA Lighting and Controls had recently rebranded. It previously served the market as O’Blaney Rinker Associates.
